SEC. 655. PAID-UP COVERAGE UNDER RETIRED SERVICEMAN’S FAMILY PROTECTION PLAN. (a) Conditions.—Subchapter I of chapter 73 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 1436 the following new section: “§ 1436a. Coverage paid up at 30 years and age 70 “Effective October 1, 2008, a reduction under this subchapter in the retired or retainer pay of a person electing an annuity under this subchapter may not be made for any month after the later of— “(1) the month that is the 360th month for which that person’s retired or retainer pay is reduced pursuant to such an election; and “(2) the month during which that person attains 70 years of age.”. (b) Clerical Amendment.—The table of sections at the beginning of such subchapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 1436 the following new item: “1436a. Coverage paid up at 30 years and age 70.”.113 STAT. 668
