SEC. 673. ANNUAL REPORT ON EFFECTS OF INITIATIVES ON RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION. (a) Report Required.—(1) Chapter 19 of title 37, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: “§ 1015. Annual report on effects of recruitment and retention initiatives “Not later than December 1 of each year, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a report that sets forth the Secretary’s assessment of the effects that the improvements to compensation and other personnel benefits made by title VI of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2000 are having on the recruitment of persons to join the armed forces and the retention of members of the armed forces.”. (2) The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by adding at the end the following new item: “1015. Annual report on effects of recruitment and retention initiatives.”. (b) First Report.—The first report under section 1015 of title 37, United States Code, as added by subsection (a), shall be submitted not later than December 1, 2000.113 STAT. 675
