SEC. 1602. REPORT ON VULNERABILITIES OF UNITED STATES SPACE ASSETS. Not later than March 1, 2000, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate a report, prepared in consultation with the Director of Central Intelligence, on the current and potential vulnerabilities of United States national security and commercial space assets. The report shall be submitted in classified and unclassified form. The report shall include— (1) an assessment of the military significance of the vulnerabilities identified in the report; (2) an assessment of the significance of space debris; and (3) an assessment of the manner in which the vulnerabilities identified in the report could affect United States space launch policy and spacecraft design.
