STUDY OF WARM SPRINGS CULTURE.
SEC. 802. STUDY OF WARM SPRINGS CULTURE. (a) In General.— The Secretary of the Interior is authorized and directed to conduct a study of the culture that evolved around Warm Springs in Southwestern, New Mexico, to determine its significance in illustrating and commemorating American frontier military history and the development of American Indian policy. (b) Specifics of Study.— The study shall include— (1) an evaluation of the history of the people from the Warm Springs area in Victorio’s War in relation to American frontier military history and the development of American Indian policy; and (2) an evaluation of historic and prehistoric resources surrounding the Warm Springs at the headwaters of Canada de Alamosa and the potential for preservation and public use. (c) Completion of Study.— The study shall be completed and transmitted to the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate within 1 year of the date on which funds are appropriated for the study.
