SEC. 636. PARTIAL DISLOCATION ALLOWANCE AUTHORIZED FOR HOUSING MOVES ORDERED FOR GOVERNMENT CONVENIENCE. (a) Authorization of Partial Dislocation Allowance.—Section 407 of title 37, United States Code, is amended— (1) by redesignating subsections (f) and (g) as subsections (g) and (h), respectively; and (2) by inserting after subsection (e) the following new subsection: “(f) Partial Dislocation Allowance.—(1) Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary concerned, a member ordered to occupy or vacate family housing provided by the United States to permit the privatization or renovation of housing or for any other reason (other than pursuant to a permanent change of station) may be paid a partial dislocation allowance of $500. “(2) Effective on the same date that the monthly rates of basic pay for all members are increased under section 1009 of this title or another provision of law, the Secretary of Defense shall adjust the rate of the partial dislocation allowance authorized by this subsection by the percentage equal to the average percentage increase in the rates of basic pay. “(3) Subsections (c) and (d) do not apply to the partial dislocation allowance authorized by this subsection.”. (b) Application of Amendment.—Subsection (f) of title 37, United States Code, as added by subsection (a)(2), shall apply with respect to an order to move for a member of a uniformed service that is issued on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
