SEC. 594. TRANSPORTATION OR STORAGE OF PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLES ON CHANGE OF PERMANENT STATION. (a) Advance Payment of Storage Costs.—Subsection (b) of section 2634 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph: “(4) Storage costs payable under this subsection may be paid in advance”. (b) Shipment on Permanent Change of Station Within CONUS.—Subsection (h)(1) of such section is amended by striking “includes” in the second sentence and all that follows and inserting “includes the following: “(A) An authorized change in home port of a vessel. “(B) A transfer or assignment between two permanent stations in the continental United States when— “(i) the member cannot, because of injury or the conditions of the order, drive the motor vehicle between the permanent duty stations; or “(ii) the Secretary concerned determines that it is advantageous and cost-effective to the United States for one motor vehicle of the member to be transported between the permanent duty stations.”. (c) Effective Date.—The amendments made by this section apply to orders to make a change of permanent station that are issued on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
