INTERNAL INSPECTION OF PIPELINES.
SEC. 304. INTERNAL INSPECTION OF PIPELINES. (a) Study.— The Secretary of Transportation shall undertake a study assessing the feasibility of requiring the inspection of transmission facilities with instrumented internal inspection devices at periodic intervals determined after consideration of the factors set forth in section 13(b)(2) of the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act of 1968 and section 210(d)(2) of the Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Safety Act of 1979. (b) Report.— Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation shall submit to Congress a report detailing the Secretary’s findings under subsection (a) together with any recommendations of the Secretary for appropriate legislation.
