Sec. 573. (a) Briefings.—Not later than 90 days after the date of enactment of this Act, and not later than every 120 days thereafter during fiscal year 2002, the Department of State, in consultation with the Department of Defense, shall provide detailed briefings to the appropriate congressional committees (including the Committees on Appropriations) on any discussions conducted between any executive branch agency and the government of Taiwan during the preceding 120 days (or, in the case of the 115 STAT. 2168initial briefing, since the date of enactment of this Act) on any potential purchase of defense articles or defense services by the government of Taiwan. (b) Executive Agency Defined.—In this section, the term “executive branch agency” has the meaning given the term “agency” in section 551(1) of title 5, United States Code.
