Sec. 906. (a) As determined by the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives, any anthrax-contaminated mail delivered by the United States Postal Service to the House of Representatives shall be destroyed or otherwise disposed of. (b) No action taken under this section may serve as a basis for civil or criminal liability of any individual or entity. (c) As used in this section, the term “anthrax-contaminated mail” means any mail matter that, as determined by the Sergeant at Arms, by reason of the events of October 2001— (1) is contaminated by anthrax or any other substance the mailing of which is prohibited by section 1716 of title 18, United States Code, or any other law of the United States; or (2) may be so contaminated, but the ascertainment of which is not technically feasible or is otherwise impracticable. (d) This section shall apply with respect to fiscal year 2002 and each succeeding fiscal year.
