EFFECTIVE DATA COLLECTION ON WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS.
SEC. 126. EFFECTIVE DATA COLLECTION ON WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS. (a) Study.— Not later than June 1, 1989, or one hundred and eighty days after the effective date of this section (whichever is later), the Office of the Chief Counsel for Advocacy of the Small Business Administration (hereinafter referred to in this section as the “Office”) shall conduct and complete a study to determine the most cost effective and accurate means to gather and present data on women-owned businesses, including data on sole proprietorship, partnership, Sub S corporations and regular corporations. (b) Consultation and Cooperation.— In performing such study, the Office shall consult with the Department of Labor, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Department of Commerce, including the Bureau of the Census, the Internal Revenue Service, other relevant agencies and departments of Government, trade and professional associations, and other organizations representing the interest of women-owned businesses. Each department and agency shall afford the Office such assistance and cooperation as may be necessary to achieve the purposes of this subsection. (c) Report.— The study performed pursuant to subsection (a), together with such recommendations for legislative or administrative change as may be appropriate, shall be reported to the Commit-tees on Small Business of the Senate and House of Representatives within one hundred and eighty days after the effective date of this section.
