POWERS OF COMMISSION.
SEC. 247. POWERS OF COMMISSION. (a) Hearings.—For the purpose of carrying out this Act, the Commission may conduct such hearings, sit and act at such times and places, take such testimony, and receive such evidence, as the Commission considers appropriate. The Commission may administer oaths or affirmations to witnesses appearing before the Commission. (b) Delegation.—Any member or employee of the Commission may, if authorized by the Commission, take any action that the Commission is authorized to take under this Act. (c) Access to Information.—The Commission may secure directly from any executive department or agency such information as may be necessary to enable the Commission to carry out this Act, except to the extent that the department or agency is expressly prohibited by law from furnishing such information. On the request of the Chairman of the Commission, the head of such department or agency shall furnish nonprohibited information to the Commission. 102 STAT. 3108 (d) Mails.—The Commission may use the United States mails in the same manner and under the same conditions as other departments and agencies of the United States.
