Sec. 154. Mississippi River and Big Muddy River, Illinois. (a) In General.—The project for flood control, Mississippi River and Big Muddy River, Illinois, authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1938, is modified to authorize the Secretary to carry out repair and rehabilitation of the project at a total cost of $22,600,000, with an estimated Federal cost of $16,950,000 and an estimated non-Federal cost of $5,650,000, and to perform operation and maintenance of the project thereafter.117 STAT. 1845(b) Other Assistance.—Federal assistance made available through the Department of Agriculture may be used toward payment of the non-Federal share of the costs of the repair and rehabilitation under this section.(c) United States Lands.—Costs under this section for the repair and rehabilitation allocable to the protection of lands owned by the United States shall be a Federal responsibility. The Secretary shall seek reimbursement from the Secretary of Agriculture for the costs allocated to protecting lands owned by the Department of Agriculture.(d) Operation and Maintenance of Non-Federal Lands.—The cost of operation and maintenance under this section allocated to protecting non-Federal lands shall be a non-Federal responsibility.
