TONNAGE MEASUREMENT.

SEC. 603. TONNAGE MEASUREMENT.(a) In General.—The Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating may apply section 8104(o)(2) of title 46, United States Code, to the vessels described in subsection (b) without regard to the tonnage of those vessels. (b) Vessels Described.—The vessels referred to in subsection (a) are the following:(1) The M/V BLUEFIN (United States official number 620431).118 STAT. 1052(2) The M/V COASTAL MERCHANT (United States official number 1038382).(c) Application.—Subsection (a) shall not apply to a vessel described in subsection (b)—(1) until the Secretary determines that the application of subsection (a) will not compromise safety; and (2) on or after any date on which the Secretary determines that the vessel has undergone any major modification.
