SEC. 554. INCREASED MAXIMUM PERIOD FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PURSUIT OF A PROGRAM OF EDUCATION IN A HEALTH CARE PROFESSION. Section 708(a) of title 10, United States Code, is amended—(1) by striking “for a period not to exceed two years”; and(2) by adding at the end the following: “The period of a leave of absence granted under this section may not exceed two years, except that the period may exceed two years but may not exceed three years in the case of an eligible member pursuing a program of education in a health care profession.”.
