SEC. 591. PROTECTION OF ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL FROM RETALIATORY ACTIONS FOR COMMUNICATIONS MADE THROUGH THE CHAIN OF COMMAND.(a) Protected Communications.—Section 1034(b)(1)(B) of title 10, United States Code, is amended—(1) by striking “or” at the end of clause (iii)”; and(2) by striking clause (iv) and inserting the following:“(iv) any person or organization in the chain of command; or“(v) any other person or organization designated pursuant to regulations or other established administrative procedures for such communications.”.(b) Effective Date.—The amendments made by this section apply with respect to any unfavorable personnel action taken or threatened, and any withholding of or threat to withhold a favorable 118 STAT. 1934 personnel action, on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
