Livestock Assistance.
Sec. 785. Livestock Assistance. (a) In General.—In carrying out a livestock assistance, compensation, or feed program, the Secretary of Agriculture shall include elk, reindeer, and bison within the definition of “livestock” covered by the program. (b) Conforming Amendments.—(1) Section 602(2) of the Agricultural Act of 1949 (7 U.S.C. 1471(2)) is amended by inserting “elk, reindeer, bison,” after “cattle,”. (2) Section 10104 of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (7 U.S.C. 1472) is amended—(A) by redesignating subsections (a) through (d) as subsections (b) through (e), respectively; and (B) by inserting before subsection (b) (as so redesignated) the following: “(a) Definition of Livestock.—In this section, the term ‘livestock’ includes elk, reindeer, and bison.”. (3) Section 203(d) of the Agricultural Assistance Act of 2003 (Public Law 108–7; 117 Stat. 541) is amended—118 STAT. 2851(A) by redesignating paragraph (2) as paragraph (3); and (B) by inserting after paragraph (1) the following: “(2) Livestock.—The term ‘livestock’ includes elk, reindeer, and bison.”.
