PETTY OFFENSE AMENDMENTS.

SEC. 7089. PETTY OFFENSE AMENDMENTS. (a) Title 18.—Section 19 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by inserting “, for which the maximum fine is no greater than the amount set forth for such an offense in section 357l(b) (6) or (7) in the case of an individual or section 3571(c) (6) or (7) in the case of an organization” after “infraction”. (b) Rules of Procedure.—Rule 9 of the Rules of Procedure for the Trial of Misdemeanors before United States Magistrates is amended to read as follows: “Rule 9. Definition “As used in these rules, ‘petty offense’ has the meaning set forth in 18 U.S.C. § 19.”. (c) Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.—Rule 54 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure is amended in the definition of “petty offense” to read as follows: “‘Petty offense’ has the meaning set forth in 18 U.S.C. 19.”.
