SEC. 7254. COORDINATING COUNCIL ON JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION. (a) Functions.—Section 206(c) of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. 5616(c)) is amended— (1) in the first sentence by striking “, in consultation with the Advisory Board on Missing Children,”, and (2) in the third sentence— (A) by striking “is authorized to” and inserting “shall”, and (B) by striking “section 223(a)(12)(A) and (13)” and inserting “paragraphs (12)(A), (13), and (14) of section 223(a)”, and (3) by adding at the end the following: “The Council shall review the reasons why Federal agencies take juveniles into custody and shall make recommendations regarding how to improve Federal practices and facilities for holding juveniles in custody.”. (b) Conforming Amendment.—Section 206(d) of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. 5616(d)) is amended by striking “and” and all that follows through “title”. (c) Allocation.—Section 206(g) of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. 5616(g)) is amended to read as follows: “(g) Of sums available to carry out this part, not more than $200,000 shall be available to carry out this section.”.
