SEC. 606. ASSESSMENT OF OIL SPILL COSTS.(a) Assessment.—The Comptroller General shall conduct an assessment of the cost of response activities and claims related to oil spills from vessels that have occurred since January 1, 1990, for which the total costs and claims paid was at least $1,000,000 per spill.(b) Report.—Not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a report on the assessment conducted under subsection (a). The report shall summarize the following:(1) The costs and claims described in subsection (a) for each year covered by the report.(2) The source, if known, of each spill described in subsection (a) for each such year.
