FEDERAL PRISON SYSTEM.

SEC. 6157. FEDERAL PRISON SYSTEM. There is authorized to be appropriated in fiscal year 1989 to the buildings and facilities account, Federal Prison System, Department of Justice, $200,000,000 for planning; acquisition of sites, construction of new facilities; purchase and acquisition of existing facilities and remodeling and equipping of such facilities for penal and correctional use, to alleviate overcrowding in existing prisons and to meet the increased demand for prison space resulting from drug-related offenses: Provided, That such appropriation shall be in addition to any appropriations provided in regular appropriations Acts or continuing resolutions for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1989. There is authorized to be appropriated in fiscal year 1989 for the salaries and expenses account, Federal Prison System, Department of Justice, $13,000,000: Provided, That such appropriation shall be in addition to any appropriations provided in regular appropriations Acts or continuing resolutions for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1989.
