SEC. 595. PERSONS AUTHORIZED TO ADMINISTER ENLISTMENT AND APPOINTMENT OATHS.(a) Enlistment Oath.—Section 502 of title 10, United States Code, is amended—(1) by inserting “(a) Enlistment Oath.—” before “Each person enlisting”;(2) by striking the last sentence; and(3) by adding at the end the following new subsection:“(b) Who May Administer.—The oath may be taken before the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary of Defense, any commissioned officer, or any other person designated under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense.”.(b) Oaths Generally.—Section 1031 of such title is amended by striking “Any commissioned officer of any component of an armed force, whether or not on active duty, may administer any oath” and inserting “The President, the Vice-President, the Secretary of Defense, any commissioned officer, and any other person designated under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense may administer any oath”.
