SEC. 205. GAO STUDY AND REPORT ON REAFFIRMATION AGREEMENT PROCESS.(a) Study.—The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study of the reaffirmation agreement process that occurs under title 11 of the United States Code, to determine the overall treatment of consumers within the context of such process, and shall include in such study consideration of—(1) the policies and activities of creditors with respect to reaffirmation agreements; and(2) whether consumers are fully, fairly, and consistently informed of their rights pursuant to such title.(b) Report to the Congress.—Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a report on the results of the study conducted under subsection (a), together with recommendations for legislation (if any) to address any abusive or coercive tactics found in connection with the reaffirmation agreement process that occurs under title 11 of the United States Code.
