EXTENSION OF MEDICARE INCENTIVE PAYMENT PROGRAM FOR PHYSICIAN SCARCITY AREAS.

SEC. 102. EXTENSION OF MEDICARE INCENTIVE PAYMENT PROGRAM FOR PHYSICIAN SCARCITY AREAS. Section 1833(u) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395l(u)) is amended—(1) in paragraph (1), by striking “before January 1, 2008” and inserting “before July 1, 2008”; and(2) in paragraph (4)—(A) by redesignating subparagraph (D) as subparagraph (E); and(B) by inserting after subparagraph (C) the following new subparagraph:“(D) Special rule.—With respect to physicians’ services furnished on or after January 1, 2008, and before July 1, 2008, for purposes of this subsection, the Secretary shall use the primary care scarcity counties and the specialty care scarcity counties (as identified under the preceding provisions of this paragraph) that the Secretary was using under this subsection with respect to physicians’ services furnished on December 31, 2007.”.
