EXTENSION OF AUTHORITY FOR USE OF SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES FOR CERTAIN COMMERCIAL ITEMS.
SEC. 822. EXTENSION OF AUTHORITY FOR USE OF SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES FOR CERTAIN COMMERCIAL ITEMS.(a) Extension.—Section 4202(e) of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (division D of Public Law 104–106; 110 Stat. 652; 10 U.S.C. 2304 note) is amended by striking “January 1, 2008” and inserting “January 1, 2010”.(b) Report.—Not later than March 1, 2008, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on the use by the Department of Defense of the authority provided by section 4202(e) of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (10 U.S.C. 2304 note). The report shall include, at a minimum, the following:(1) Summary data on the use of the authority.(2) Specific examples of the use of the authority.(3) An evaluation of potential benefits and costs of extending the authority after January 1, 2010.
