REPORTS ON ESTABLISHMENT OF A MEMORIAL FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO DIED IN THE AIR CRASH IN BAKERS CREEK, AUSTRALIA, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF OTHER MEMORIALS IN ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY.
SEC. 1051. REPORTS ON ESTABLISHMENT OF A MEMORIAL FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO DIED IN THE AIR CRASH IN BAKERS CREEK, AUSTRALIA, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF OTHER MEMORIALS IN ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY.(a) Bakers Creek Memorial.—Not later than April 1, 2008, the Secretary of the Army shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate a report containing a discussion of locations outside of Arlington National Cemetery that would serve as a suitable location for the establishment of a memorial to honor the memory of the 40 members of the Armed Forces of the United States who lost their lives in the air crash at Bakers Creek, Australia, on June 14, 1943.122 STAT. 319(b) Memorials in Arlington National Cemetery.—Not later than April 1, 2008, the Secretary of the Army shall submit to the congressional committees specified in subsection (a) a report containing—(1) recommendations to implement the results of the study regarding proposals for the construction of new memorials in Arlington National Cemetery that was conducted pursuant to section 2897 of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005 (Public Law 108–375; 118 Stat. 2157); and(2) proposed legislation, if necessary, to implement the results of the study.
