SEC. 6113. STUDY ON RURAL ELECTRIC POWER GENERATION.(a) In General.—The Secretary shall conduct a study on the electric power generation needs in rural areas of the United States.(b) Components.—The study shall include an examination of—(1) generation in various areas in rural areas of the United States, particularly by rural electric cooperatives;;(2) financing available for capacity, including financing available through programs authorized under the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 (7 U.S.C. 901 et seq.);(3) the impact of electricity costs on consumers and local economic development;(4) the ability of fuel feedstock technology to meet regulatory requirements, such as carbon capture and sequestration; and(5) any other factors that the Secretary considers appropriate.(c) Report.—Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a report containing the findings of the study under this section.
