Sec. 5502. (a) For an additional amount under “Department of Education, Safe Schools and Citizenship Education”, $8,594,000 121 STAT. 167 shall be available for Safe and Drug-Free Schools National Programs for competitive grants to local educational agencies to address youth violence and related issues.(b) The competition under subsection (a) shall be limited to local educational agencies that operate schools currently identified as persistently dangerous under section 9532 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.
