SEC. 501. AUTHORIZED ACTIVITIES. Section 503(b) (20 U.S.C. 1101b(b)) is amended—(1) by redesignating paragraphs (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), and (14), as paragraphs (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), (14), and (16), respectively;(2) in paragraph (5), by inserting “, including innovative and customized instruction courses (which may include remedial education and English language instruction) designed to help retain students and move the students rapidly into core courses and through program completion” before the period at the end;(3) by inserting after paragraph (5) the following:“(6) Articulation agreements and student support programs designed to facilitate the transfer from two-year to four-year institutions.”;(4) by inserting after paragraph (14) (as redesignated by paragraph (1)) the following:“(15) Providing education, counseling services, or financial information designed to improve the financial literacy and economic literacy of students or the students’ families, especially with regard to student indebtedness and student assistance programs under title IV.”; and(5) in paragraph (11) (as redesignated by paragraph (1)), by striking “distance learning academic instruction capabilities” and inserting “distance education technologies”.
