SEC. 211. INCREASED CIVIL AND CRIMINAL PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH LOBBYING DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS.(a) In General.—Section 7 of the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 (2 U.S.C. 1606) is amended—(1) by striking “Whoever” and inserting “(a) Civil Penalty.—Whoever”;(2) by striking “$50,000” and inserting “$200,000”; and(3) by adding at the end the following:“(b) Criminal Penalty.—Whoever knowingly and corruptly fails to comply with any provision of this Act shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years or fined under title 18, United States Code, or both.”.(b) Effective Date.—The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to any violation committed on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
