SEC. 802. TRANSPORTATION WORKER IDENTIFICATION CREDENTIAL.(a) In General.—Not later than 120 days after completing the pilot program under section 70105(k)(1) of title 46, United States Code, to test TWIC access control technologies at port facilities and vessels nationwide, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall submit to the Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate, and to the Comptroller General a report containing an assessment of the results of the pilot. The report shall include—(1) the findings of the pilot program with respect to key technical and operational aspects of implementing TWIC technologies in the maritime sector;124 STAT. 2990(2) a comprehensive listing of the extent to which established metrics were achieved during the pilot program; and(3) an analysis of the viability of those technologies for use in the maritime environment, including any challenges to implementing those technologies and strategies for mitigating identified challenges.(b) GAO Assessment.—The Comptroller General shall review the report and submit to the Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate an assessment of the report’s findings and recommendations.
