SEC. 573. AUTHORIZATION AND REQUEST FOR AWARD OF DISTINGUISHED-SERVICE CROSS TO JAY C. COPLEY FOR ACTS OF VALOR DURING THE VIETNAM WAR.(a) Authorization.—Notwithstanding the time limitations specified in section 3744 of title 10, United States Code, or any other time limitation with respect to the awarding of certain medals to persons who served in the Armed Forces, the Secretary of the Army is authorized and requested to award the Distinguished-Service Cross under section 3742 of such title to former Captain Jay C. Copley of the United States Army for the acts of valor during the Vietnam War described in subsection (b).(b) Acts of Valor Described.—The acts of valor referred to in subsection (a) are the actions of then Captain Jay C. Copley on May 5, 1968, as commander of Company C of the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry, attached to the 173d Airborne Brigade during an engagement with a regimental-size enemy force in Bin Dinh Province, South Vietnam.
