DEFENSE SCIENCE BOARD REPORT ON DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STRATEGY TO COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.
SEC. 1239. DEFENSE SCIENCE BOARD REPORT ON DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STRATEGY TO COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.(a) Report Required.—Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Defense Science Board shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on the strategy of the Department of Defense to counter violent extremism outside the United States.(b) Elements.—The report required by subsection (a) shall include, at a minimum, the following:(1) A review of the current strategy, research activities, resource allocations, and organizational structure of the Department of Defense for countering violent extremism outside the United States.(2) A review of interagency coordination and decision-making processes for executing and overseeing strategies and programs for countering violent extremism outside the United States.124 STAT. 4404(3) An analysis of alternatives and options available to the Department of Defense to counter violent extremism outside the United States.(4) An analysis of legal, policy, and strategy issues involving efforts to counter violent extremism outside the United States as such efforts potentially affect domestic efforts to interrupt radicalization efforts within the United States.(5) An analysis of the current information campaign of the Department of Defense against violent extremists outside the United States.(6) Such recommendations for further action to address the matters covered by the report as the Defense Science Board considers appropriate.(7) Such other matters as the Defense Science Board determines relevant.
