SEC. 389. OIL SPILL RECOVERY INSTITUTE. Title V of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (33 U.S.C. 2731 et seq.) is amended— (1) in section 5001(i), by striking “September 30, 2012” and inserting “1 year after the date on which the Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of the Interior, determines that oil and gas exploration, development, and production in the State of Alaska have ceased”; and (2) in section 5006(c), by striking “October 1, 2012” and inserting “1 year after the date on which the Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of the Interior, determines that oil and gas exploration, development, and production in the State of Alaska have ceased,”.
