SEC. 916. ASSESSMENT OF FOREIGN COMPONENTS AND THE SPACE LAUNCH CAPABILITY OF THE UNITED STATES. (a) Assessment.—The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics shall conduct an independent assessment of the national security implications of continuing to use foreign component and propulsion systems for the launch vehicles under the evolved expendable launch vehicle program. (b) Report.—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the assessment conducted under subsection (a).
