SEC. 530. CONVERSION OF HIGH-DEPLOYMENT ALLOWANCE FROM MANDATORY TO AUTHORIZED. (a) Conversion.—Section 436(a) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking “shall pay” and inserting “may pay”. (b) [37 U.S.C. 436 note] Effective Date.—The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on the first day of the first month beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
