SEC. 207. [16 U.S.C. 6591c] 20-YEAR STEWARDSHIP CONTRACTING. (a) In General.—The Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior may award contracts or agreements under section 604 of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 (16 U.S.C. 6511), for terms not to exceed 20 years on areas where the majority of Federal lands are in Fire Regime Groups I, II, or III. (b) Preference.—In awarding a contract under this section, the Secretary concerned may, notwithstanding the Federal Acquisition Regulations, give a procurement preference to a contractor that would, as part of the contract, promote an innovative use of forest products, including cross-laminated timber.
