SEC. 1684. REQUIREMENTS FOR BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE CAPABLE SHIPS. (a) Force Structure Assessment.—The Secretary of the Navy, in consultation with the Director of the Missile Defense Agency, shall include in the first force structure assessment conducted following the date of the enactment of this Act the following: (1) An assessment of the requirements for ballistic missile defense capable ships. (2) The force structure requirements associated with advanced ballistic missile defense capabilities. (b) Force Structure Assessment Defined.—The term “force structure assessment” has the meaning given the term in Chief of Naval Operations Instruction 3050.27.
