SEC. 3542. AUTHORITY TO EXEMPT VESSELS. (a) In General.—Section 2113 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) by adding “and” after the semicolon at the end of paragraph (3); and (2) by striking paragraphs (4) and (5) and inserting the following: “(4) maintain different structural fire protection, manning, operating, and equipment requirements for vessels that satisfied requirements set forth in the Passenger Vessel Safety Act of 1993 (Public Law 103-206) before June 21, 1994.” . (b) Conforming Amendments.—Section 3306(i) of title 46, United States Code, is amended by striking “section 2113(5)” and inserting “section 2113(4)”.
