SEC. 941. COMMISSION ON THE NATIONAL DEFENSE STRATEGY FOR THE UNITED STATES. (a) Extension of Deadlines for Reporting and Briefing Requirements.—Section 942(e) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 (Public Law 114-328; 130 Stat. 2368) is amended— (1) in paragraph (1), by striking “December 1, 2017” and inserting “July 1, 2018”; and (2) in paragraph (2), by striking “June 1, 2017” and inserting “March 1, 2018”. (b) Treatment of Commission.—Section 942 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 (Public Law 114-328; 130 Stat. 2368) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: “(h) Legislative Advisory Committee. The Commission shall operate as a legislative advisory committee and shall not be subject to the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Public Law 92-463; 5 U.S.C. App.) or section 552b of title 5, United States Code (commonly known as the Government in the Sunshine Act).” .
