SEC. 383. MEMBERSHIP OF COAST GUARD ON JOINT SAFETY COUNCIL. Section 184(b)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended— (1) by redesignating subparagraph (D) as subparagraph (E); and (2) by inserting after subparagraph (C) the following new subparagraph: “(D) During periods in which the Coast Guard is not operating as a service in the Department of the Navy, an officer of the Coast Guard, appointed by the Secretary of Homeland Security.” .
