SEC. 5599D. SENSE OF CONGRESS REGARDING ISRAEL. It is the sense of Congress that— (1) since 1948, Israel has been one of the strongest friends and allies of the United States; (2) Israel is a stable, democratic country in a region often marred by turmoil; (3) it is essential to the strategic interest of the United States to continue to offer security assistance and related support to Israel; and (4) such assistance and support is especially vital as Israel confronts a number of potential challenges at the present time, including continuing threats from Iran.
