SEC. 1344. PLAN FOR DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE ACTIVITIES TO STRENGTHEN UNITED STATES EXTENDED DETERRENCE COMMITMENTS TO THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA. (a) Plan.—Not later than March 1, 2025, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a plan for Department of Defense activities to strengthen United States extended deterrence commitments to the Republic of Korea as identified in the December 16, 2023, Joint Press Statement on the United States-Republic of Korea Nuclear Consultative Group. (b) Elements.—The plan required by subsection (a) shall include the following: (1) A description of the resources, budget, and personnel needed to strengthen United States extended deterrence commitments to the Republic of Korea, including those related to— (A) nuclear consultation processes between the United States and the Republic of Korea in crises and contingencies; (B) nuclear and strategic planning between the United States and the Republic of Korea; (C) United States-Republic of Korea conventional and nuclear integration; (D) security and information-sharing protocols; (E) exercises, simulations, training, and other investment activities; and (F) risk-reduction practices. (2) Any other matter the Secretary of Defense considers relevant.
