SEC. 1312. ANALYSIS OF CERTAIN BIOTECHNOLOGY ENTITIES. (a) In General.—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall conduct an analysis to determine if any biotechnology entity, or any subsidiary, parent, affiliate, or successor of such an entity, should be identified as a Chinese military company or a military-civil fusion contributor and included on the list maintained by the Department of Defense in accordance with section 1260H(b) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (10 U.S.C. 113 note). (b) Biotechnology Entity Defined.—In this section, the term “biotechnology entity” means an entity that makes or offers a technology, good, or service that applies to or is enabled by life sciences innovation or product development for biological materials, including disease detection, genetic analysis, and related services.
