CODIFICATION OF POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF THE DEFENSE HEALTH AGENCY.

SEC. 711. CODIFICATION OF POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF THE DEFENSE HEALTH AGENCY. (a) In General.—Section 1073c of title 10, United States Code, is amended— (1) by redesignating subsections (a) through (j) as subsections (b) through (k), respectively; (2) by inserting before subsection (b), as redesignated by paragraph (1), the following: “(a) Director of the Defense Health Agency.—(1) There is in the Defense Health Agency a Director. “(2) The Director of the Defense Health Agency shall— “(A) be a military officer and hold a rank that is the same or greater than the rank of any officer serving as the Surgeon General of a military department under section 7036, 8031, or 9036 of this title; and “(B) have joint experience.” ; (3) in subsection (b), as redesignated by paragraph (1)— (A) in paragraph (1), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking “, by not later than September 30, 2021”; (B) in paragraph (2), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking “, commencing when the Director begins to exercise responsibilities under that paragraph,”; and (C) in paragraph (6), by striking “subsections (b) and (c)” and inserting “subsections (c) and (d)”; (4) in subsection (f), as so redesignated, in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking “Not later than September 30, 2024, and subject to subsection (f)” and inserting “Subject to subsection (g)”; (5) in subsection (g), as so redesignated, in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking “subsection (e)” and inserting “subsection (f)”; and (6) in subsection (h), as so redesignated, by striking “subsection (e)(1)” and inserting “subsection (f)(1)”. (b) Conforming Amendment.—Section 1091a(b)(2) of such title is amended by striking “section 1073c(i)” and inserting “section 1073c(j)”.
