SEC. 233. PASSPORT FEES. (a) Applications.—Section 1 of the Passport Act of June 4, 1920 (22 U.S.C. 214), is amended— (1) in the first sentence— (A) by striking “each passport issued” and inserting “the filing of each application for a passport (including the cost of passport issuance and use)”; and (B) by striking “each application for a passport;” and inserting “each such application”; and (2) by adding after the first sentence the following new sentence: “Such fees shall not be refundable, except as the Secretary may by regulation prescribe.”. (b) Repeal of Outdated Provision on Passport Fees.—Section 4 of the Passport Act of June 4, 1920 (22 U.S.C. 216) is repealed. (c) Effective Date.—The amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of issuance of final regulations under section 1 of the Passport Act of June 4, 1920, as amended by subsection (a).
