HAR §17-896.1-45. Administration of medication

(a) When medication prescribed by a physician is administered in the facility: (1) The medication shall be kept in the original container bearing the prescription label which shows the date filled, the physician's directions for use, and the child's name; 896.1-36 9546 §17-896.1-46 (2) Medication shall be kept out of reach of children and shall be returned to parents or guardians when no longer in use; and (3) There shall be an authorization signed by the parent or guardian for the administration of medication by the facility. (b) When over-the-counter medication is administered in the facility, the child's parent or guardian or physician shall provide to the child care facility written permission and written instructions to administer the medication.
