HAR §16-23-94. Definitions

As used in this subchapter: "Claimant" means a person entitled to the benefits described in section 431:10C-103.5, HRS, under a motor vehicle insurance policy. "Emergency treatment" or "emergency services" means treatment or services which are performed within the initial seventy-two hours following the motor vehicle accident because the condition is life threatening or could cause serious harm. "Physician" includes a doctor of medicine, a dentist, a chiropractor, an osteopath, a psychologist, an optometrist, and a podiatrist. "Specialist" means a physician or surgeon who holds a certificate as a diplomate issued by a specialty board approved by the American Medical Association or the American Dental Association.
