(a) A person's request for expungement, as well as any records or documents submitted with the request or for purposes of an administrative hearing related to the request, shall be confidential, in accordance with section 346-10, HRS, and chapter 17-1601. (b) The records and information related to a report for which a person's name is expunged from the central registry shall be maintained by the department solely for future risk and safety assessment purposes.
