Voss RE: AIG Insurance Companies DATE: September 23, 2008 Although the AIG holding company is experiencing financial problems, the Division cautions producers and insurance companies that they should neither imply that this affects the AIG insurance companies nor use this information to induce consumers to replace an AIG policy. Such practices are expressly prohibited as unfair or deceptive acts or practices under Iowa Code sections 507B.4(1)(d) and (f), Iowa Code section 507B.4(3), and 191 Iowa Administrative Code subrule 15.3(8). The Division will review all reports of any such statements or representations, and Iowa insurance law will be vigorously enforced.
