RE:
Company Bulletin 2023-12 – UPDATE to CB 2023-11 Re: Coverage of COVID-19 Vaccines
_____________________________________________________________________________
This Company Bulletin supersedes the Department’s previously issued Company Bulletin 2023-11.
Company Bulletin 2023-12 provides clarification issued by the Secretary of the U.S. Health and Human Services
(“HHS”) on September 22, 2023, in the Letter from HHS Secretary on COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage, that the
December 2020 guidance on coverage of COVID-19 vaccines still applies to any subsequently approved vaccines,
so the 15-day waiting period has already expired.
Issuers were required to begin covering the newly-approved vaccine as soon as authorized by FDA – September
11, 2023, as opposed to the October 3, 2023, date listed within Company Bulletin 2023-11.

Issuers are expected to review and remediate any and all claim submissions for the recently approved mRNA
Covid-19 vaccine that were incorrectly denied to ensure Illinois consumers receive the preventive health care
benefits at no cost-sharing they are afforded by law.
